By the end of 2023, 3,869,705 MW of renewable energy were generated worldwide, of which 1,418,969 MW, or 36.67%, were generated from solar power installations. Asia, with 602,933 MW, Europe, with 233,821 MW, and North America, with 129,037 MW, were the leading regions worldwide in solar energy production.
When breaking down the figures by country, as reflected by Irena (International Renewable Energy Agency) in its report Renewable Capacity Statistics 2024, China, USA, Japan, Germany, India, Brazil, Australia, Spain, Germany, Italy and Korea Rep. form, in that order, the Top 10 countries with the highest solar energy production in 2023.
If we analyse the growth in their production capacity compared to 2022, and more specifically over the past decade, Brazil’s commitment to solar energy generation stands out significantly.
In 2023, the Brazilian government announced a new “growth acceleration” plan that included BRL 67 billion (USD 12.5 billion) to finance new renewable energy projects. More than half of that amount – BRL 41.5 billion – is planned for the construction of 196 solar power plants.
According to Rodrigo Sauaia, executive president of Absolar, the Brazilian Photovoltaic Solar Energy Association, and citing DataSenado data, 85% of Brazilians support more public investment in renewable energy: “Solar is therefore a lever for the social, economic and environmental development of the country”.
In this context, the Intersolar South America trade fair will be held in São Paulo from 25 to 27 August. This is a highly significant event in the global solar and photovoltaic energy sector, in which around 500 companies will be taking part. Specifically, Intersolar South America will be attended by organisations that provide services in the different phases of the value chain of a solar energy project, from its preliminary analysis to its start-up. The main sectors that will be represented at the fair include photovoltaic production technology, solar thermal technologies, energy storage systems, project maintenance, construction of renewable projects, software and engineering services.
That is why Green Eagle Solutions will be present at the fair, thanks to the partnership agreed with Satel Brasil earlier this year, allowing us to share their booth throughout the event. There we will be presenting ARSOS, the automation suite for top-tier utilities and Independent Power Producers, (IPPs).
Companies or professionals who would like to book a meeting in advance with the Green Eagle Solutions team can do so by following this link: https://lnkd.in/dzKn3-Kn. Additionally, for those attending Intersolar South America, you can find us at booth G1.80 in the Green Pavilion.
