We recently showcased our innovative automation solutions at WindEnergy Hamburg 2024, one of the biggest global events in the wind energy sector. Our participation was driven by some key goals: strengthening relationships with existing clients and expanding our reach to new industry players, especially independent power producers and renewable asset operators. This event provided an excellent opportunity to showcase our advanced solutions, gain deeper insights into the industry’s evolving operational needs, and strengthen our role in advancing automation technologies for renewable energy operations.
Showcasing ARSOS: The Future of Renewable Energy Management
A major highlight for us at the event was the presentation of ARSOS, our flagship SaaS platform. ARSOS leverages Robotic Process Automation (RPA) to automate critical processes in renewable energy operations. It’s designed to optimise efficiency and scalability in asset management by automating end-to-end operations for power producers.
One of our products is the ARSOS Grid & Market Robot. It optimises the interaction between renewable energy assets and electricity grids and markets. By automating compliance with grid regulations and facilitating seamless participation in energy markets, this tool ensures that businesses can operate efficiently without the need for constant manual intervention. It’s a solution designed to maximise profitability while keeping operations running smoothly and within regulatory frameworks.
Another one is the ARSOS Operations & Maintenance Robot. It is specifically designed to scale and optimise renewable operations, automating everything from fault detection, preventive maintenance and manual tasks that are essential to turbine availability and energy production. With this solution, operators can shift their focus from repetitive maintenance tasks to higher-value strategic activities, ensuring that wind farms operate at peak efficiency while minimising downtime.
Meeting the Growing Complexity of the Renewable Energy Sector
As the renewable energy sector continues to grow in both scale and complexity, we’ve positioned ourselves to help companies navigate this evolving landscape. By 2030, managing renewable assets is expected to become three times more complex, with operators overseeing diverse portfolios of wind, solar, and storage technologies. With more tech, evolving operational strategies, and increasing market and regulatory pressures, advanced automation tools are essential to maintaining efficiency and profitability.
We see these challenges coming and offer ARSOS as a solution that not only automates operations but also enhances scalability. Our platform allows operators to efficiently manage larger, more complex portfolios of assets, minimising operational headaches while maximising performance.
Reducing Operational Costs and Maximising Profitability
A big theme at WindEnergy Hamburg 2024 was the importance of cutting operational costs while maximizing profitability. We contribute to this goal by providing a solution that automates critical processes, helping reduce operational expenses.
ARSOS delivers clear, measurable benefits by cutting the resources needed for repetitive tasks, speeding up response times, and improving overall operational quality. We’ve seen that ARSOS can boost production gains between €200 and €400 per megawatt per year, while also significantly reducing maintenance costs. By automating complex processes and reducing human error, our platform helps operators maintain high-quality performance at a lower cost.
Key Takeaways from Industry Discussions
At WindEnergy Hamburg, we hosted a panel discussion with expert speakers from Iberdrola Renewables, Galp and Wootis S.A, focused on identifying best practices and tools to maximise renewable asset profitability. One key takeaway from the panel was the need for companies to adapt their key performance indicators (KPIs) to align operational and market strategies.
In the past, operational teams measured success mostly by asset availability and energy production. But we’re advocating for a new approach that aligns operational availability with market conditions, introducing the concept of Commercial Availability. This KPI stresses the importance of ensuring that assets are online when energy prices are high and offline when prices are low or negative. By adopting this strategy, operators can maximise profitability while maintaining high levels of operational efficiency.
This shift reflects the increasing complexity of the market, where energy production and sales teams must align their strategies to achieve optimal financial outcomes. On top of that, operators need to ensure their assets comply with evolving regulations while maintaining operational efficiency.
Preparing for the Future of Renewable Energy
As the renewable energy sector continues to grow, we’re preparing for a future where operators will manage increasingly diverse and complex portfolios of assets. With the mix of wind, solar, and storage technologies, plus ongoing regulatory changes, advanced solutions like ARSOS will be essential for seamless operations. We’re providing a flexible, scalable automation platform to equip operators with the tools they need to thrive in this ever-changing industry.
Together, we’re powering the future of renewable energy!
